I first met Olivia and Susan back in the fall of 2023 through mutual friends, when Olivia asked me to photograph a “family session” (AKA: top secret engagement) at the Wildflower Outlook in Ronks for her girlfriend and her girlfriend’s daughter. I was so excited. We met regularly to chat through the plan and, when the time came, Olivia got down on one knee and proposed. A few breaths later, she turned to Susan’s daughter, Shae, and gave her a necklace—asking for her blessing to marry her mom. There wasn’t a dry eye in sight, and I knew right then that I’d been invited into a love story I’d never forget.

As their photographer, I’ve had the privilege of walking alongside them through each chapter of this journey. When the political atmosphere shifted in late 2024, Olivia and Susan chose to secure their marriage legally, making sure their love was protected. Together, we went to the courthouse—with Shae by their side—and I not only photographed but also stood as their witness. That moment carried the weight of bittersweet necessity, but also the deep beauty of commitment that refuses to wait.

By May of 2025, it was finally time to celebrate. Olivia and Susan gathered their closest loved ones for an intimate Thursday evening wedding at Cameron Inn Estate. The weather was perfect, the venue set a gorgeous backdrop, and the day unfolded with a kind of ease that comes when the focus is truly on love. Shae stood beside them as Olivia made her vows, a reminder that this was not just a wedding but the weaving together of a family. Their day was honest, joyful, and deeply authentic. A day I will treasure forever.
